Amur Leopards
Here you will find pictures of the most critically endangered of all the big cats - the Amur Leopard. The North Chinese leopard and the black leopards now have their own section.
All species of leopards on site at the WHF are endangered. However the Amur Leopards are on the very brink of extinction with perhaps fewer than 35 remaining in their native Russian environment.
There are 4 Amur leopards at the WHF currently - Xizi is a female and had 2 male cubs Argun and Anuy 18 months ago. Anuy moved on in March 2011 to Japan as part of the breeding programme. The cubs dad Artur also lives on site and in June 2011 a new male, Hogar arrived. All of the Amur and North Chinese leopards are part of the European Breeding Programme.
Extensive work is going on to try and save these stunning cats from extinction. Please visit some of the sites on my "Links" pages if you want to find out more.
